ABOUT
Why I Founded Sage Law
After years of practicing divorce litigation, I know there's a better way to end a marriage. I kept seeing clients emotionally and sometimes financially depleted at the end of their divorce, even if they "won." So I founded Sage Law on a simple belief that family law doesn't have to mean going to war.
My practice is focused on helping clients navigate major life transitions outside of court. I work with clients through strategic counsel and advice, document preparation and review, and mediation. My goal is always the same: protect my clients' interests while guiding them toward resolution in the most effective and humane way possible. My work is different from litigation, and that's the goal of Sage Law: experienced, informed advice to guide you to a new beginning. I take my professional oath and responsibility seriously, which means being intentional and selective about the cases I accept. When you hire me, you're hiring an attorney who practices under the highest ethical standards.
I am a certified divorce mediator, trained by Gary Friedman at the Center for Understanding in Conflict, one of the most respected mediation training programs in the country.
Early Career as a San Francisco Trial Attorney
I began my legal career at Hanson Bridgett, LLP, a well-known San Francisco based law firm, where I handled a variety of cases, including general commercial, anti-trust, and probate litigation. I was entrusted with taking a case all the way to trial during my first year at the firm. I trained under some of the best civil litigators in the City. I went on to work at another well-regarded firm with three former high-ranking San Francisco Deputy City Attorneys. I managed every phase of litigation, from intake to arbitration, trials, and appeals - representing individuals and public agencies. This training helped build an excellent foundation for my transition into the complexities of family law.
Twenty Years of Family Law Experience
In 2006, my career focus shifted when I volunteered for the SF Bar Association. One of the pro bono family law cases I took stuck with me. The facts were tragic, but I made a meaningful difference in a single mother's life. I helped her get the divorce she desperately wanted from her ex. After that, I was determined to use my legal skills to make a positive impact and help clients facing major life challenges move on to the lives they deserved.
In 2007, I joined Hanson Crawford & Crum, LLP, one of the Bay Area's preeminent family law firms, where I spent a total of almost 8 years working with three of the region's leading family law specialists. I worked on complex high-net-worth divorce cases involving a variety of issues, such as spousal support, enforcement of prenuptial agreements, and property division. I collaborated with financial experts to value sophisticated assets, including commercial real estate, venture capital, intellectual property, and high-value collectibles. I was also the Family Law Legal Editor and Author at Nolo for almost a decade, analyzing family law cases and statutes to write articles and books about family law and divorce. I continue to work with Nolo as the Author of the book "Divorce & Money." For almost two years before founding Sage Law, I worked with a prominent family law attorney recognized for her expertise in complex prenuptial agreements and high-net-worth dissolutions.
I marked my 25th anniversay of practicing law by opening my own firm. I'm ready to serve clients who want to stay out of court and plan their financial futures through prenuptial agreements. I look forward to meeting you!
